Philip Wier is an artist, composer and documentary film maker living in Dallas, Texas.
A fifth generation Texan and native of Odessa, Philip began his career in 1981 as a graphic designer for various advertising agencies and clients, and producing live events. In 1986 he art-directed his first commercial which was shot on a soundstage in Dallas, and thus began his love affair with film. By 1991 he had his own commercial production company and in 1993 became Executive Producer and President of Teleworks, the corporate video and commercial production division of Tracy-Locke Advertising in Dallas, creating videos, commercials and live events for Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Tabasco, American Airlines, GTE, Nokia, among others. In 1998, he formed Mantra Communications, Inc. as a communications company specializing in advertising design, marketing, film and video, radio, live event programming and documentary film production. His clients have included Fidelity Investments, Ebby Halliday, Starbucks, Nokia, numerous real estate development projects, Clear Channel, Apple Computers, CDW, Integraph, Novell, NYSE, Pfizer and many others. Philip’s live events have included programming, producing and video production for the Dallas Black Tie Dinner featuring Sharon Stone, Goldie Hawn, Ann Richards, Martin Sheen and others; the Human Rights Campaign National Dinner in Washington, DC featuring Bette Midler, Pink, Lance Bass, Billie Jean King, Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga, the casts of Ugly Betty and Modern Family, among others, and has twice featuredPresident Obama; various HRC events around the country; the Dallas AWARE luncheon and others. Documentary projects have included tributes to Don Meredith, former Dallas Mayor Robert Folsom, Gillis Thomas and Juanita and Henry S. Miller, Jr., and a host of others.
